F16 Night Launch

While on deployment with my husband to S. Korea from 1998-1999....
One very cold night in February, 1999 I was on a mission with about 15+ youth from the chapel at Osan AB, S. Korea.  We had gone into Pyeongtaek and fed the homeless at a local mission.  The evening was such fun, with good food, great people and service.  On our return to base to drop the youth off with parents at the chapel we saw the F-16's taking off/landing.  We had a little time to spare and so we watched them and cheered them on.  The sound of the jets, the afterburners and such power.  We were talking about Top Gun and singing in my van.  Oh, yeah the van was a 1984 Ford Econoline with no windows, red in color with glitter all over the outside, shag carpeting on the inside, an awesome 70's ride.  This is how we could fit 15+ in the van.  It was dark on this evening and we were hyper.  All of a sudden we are being escorted from the van and held up at gun point by the S. Korean Security Forces who share a base with us.  We are all forced out of the van and lined up facing the van outside, with arms up.  I was trying to explain, with no luck. Then the American Security Forces squad pulls up with about 7 of them and after interrogating me, they explain to the first squad what we were doing.  Well, what I did not know until afterward, was that the base was in an exercise and I had parked on their bunker.  OOOOOPs.......My husband's commander was notified and memories were made.
